Having regular check-ups and preventive care is an essential part of maintaining good oral and general health. Our comprehensive dental check-ups aim to preserve your natural teeth for as long as possible. At Dentessence, our check-ups consist of:

Dental Care for a Healthy Smile

Beyond general check-ups:

Professional Clean

A professional dental clean uses specific tools to remove plaque and tartar build-up from your teeth. This aims to prevent cavities and gum disease, as well as the progression of other dental issues. Once there is tartar buildup on your teeth, this can only be removed by a professional clean which also reaches areas your brush cannot! At Dentessence, we offer a professional dental clean that will leave you with a healthier and brighter smile!

Fillings

At least one-third of Australian adults have at least one tooth surface with an untreated dental cavity. Dental fillings can be used to treat and repair a tooth that has been damaged by decay. At Dentessence, we use the highest-quality composite material to help restore the tooth’s structure and function while seamlessly blending in with your natural smile. Fillings help prevent further decay, restore the tooth’s original shape and function, as well as preserve the tooth’s health by preventing bacteria from entering the affected area.

Mouthguards

Accidents happen – protect your smile! If you’re playing contact sports then a custom-made mouthguard can help absorb and distribute the impacts of a blow to the mouth to protect your teeth. At Dentessence, we offer custom-made mouthguards using the highest quality materials so you can focus on your game while we focus on protecting your smile.

Dental Splints

A dental splint is required for people who subconsciously grind or clench their teeth while sleeping, also known as Bruxism. During deep sleep, you can unintentionally exert a great amount of force on your teeth by repetitive grinding or clenching. This, over time, can wear down teeth enamel, lead to cracks in healthy teeth or dental crowns, and cause jaw problems or chronic headaches and neck pain.

At Dentessence, our dentists can help offset the effects of this subconscious habit and protect your teeth through a custom-made acrylic removable dental splint which fits over your lower and/or upper teeth to protect your teeth from the effects of clenching and grinding.

Fissure Sealants

Fissure sealants are a protective treatment that strives to prevent tooth decay. The chewing surface of the molar teeth can have deep grooves and pits in them where food collects. Fissure sealants are a thin, tooth-coloured coating that is placed along the fissures to provide a barrier to pits and grooves on your molars or other teeth that are prone to decay. At Dentessence, we recommend “sealing” high-risk surfaces with fissures sealant in children and adults who are at a higher risk of developing cavities to help prevent this food collection from causing decay.

Dentures

A denture is a removable dental plate that supports one or more artificial teeth and is the most affordable option to replace missing teeth. Replacing missing teeth has significant benefits for oral health in terms of preventing gum deterioration and movement of other teeth as well as chewing and maintaining clear speech. Here at Dentessence, we can walk you through the denture process and discuss if this option is suitable for your oral health needs.

Gum Health

While you may think dentists focus solely on teeth, we also care for your gums, as these are the supporting structures of your teeth. Gum Disease, is when there is inflammation and infection of the gums from plaque and calculus bacteria. In its early stages this is known as gingivitis which is reversible through dental cleans that remove the plaque and calculus, regular brushing at home as well as flossing. Advanced gum disease, known as Peridontitis, is where gum pockets have formed and the gums may recede from the teeth. This can lead to significant tooth loss, and early detection is paramount. At Dentessence, we care for your gums as much as we care for your teeth!

Gum Contouring

The appearance of your teeth is influenced by the symmetry of your gums. Gum contouring is used to remove and reshape excess gum tissue, to reveal more of your natural teeth, giving you a more symmetrical smile. The results are instantaneous and can make a significant difference to the appearance of your teeth and smile. With laser technology, no stitches and minimal recovery, at Dentessence, we love seeing our patients experience their renewed smile.

Your General Dental Questions Answered

Having a comprehensive check-up and professional clean every six months can help to identify dental problems early, protecting you from worsening dental concerns and allowing you to keep your healthy, original teeth for as long as possible. We believe that good oral hygiene is one of the most important aspects of general health.
At Dentessence, we believe in providing high-quality, affordable dental services. Composite fillings start at $180 and go up to $450, depending on the surface needing a filling and its complexity. If you need a filling, we will provide a personalised treatment plan outlining the costs specific to your case.
During a general professional dental clean, your dentist removes plaque and tartar (calculus) from the surfaces of your teeth at or above the gum line. In contrast, a deep clean involves the removal of plaque and tartar below the gum line to treat periodontal or gum disease and can be anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. The duration of your cleaning depends on the severity of plaque and tartar buildup.
Yes, a dental filling may be used to repair a broken tooth, but it depends on the size and extent of the break. If the damage is minor and doesn’t affect the tooth’s structure deeply, a filling can be used to restore it. However, for more extensive damage, other options like dental crowns or veneers may be necessary for effective repair. Your dentist will assess the situation and recommend the appropriate treatment for your broken tooth, ensuring you get an outcome that is both aesthetically beautiful and functional.
