Treatment for Dental Emergencies

We understand dental emergencies are a priority, so we reserve space in our appointment books for patients requiring emergency dental care.

The treatment you receive will depend on your specific emergency and individual circumstances. This may include:

Your Emergency Dental and Toothache Questions Answered

Dental emergencies include toothaches, broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, sports injuries, abscesses, gum infections, denture problems, and other issues that may cause pain, bleeding, or risk of damage if left untreated.
If the tooth is intact and clean, place the tooth back into its socket. If you’re unable to do this, placing it in milk or saline is the next best option. Ensure you keep it moist until you get to the dentist.
Try to save any broken pieces if you can, and rinse your mouth with warm water. Please take any broken pieces to your dentist.
For your greatest chance of reducing your risk of dental emergencies, we recommend wearing a mouthguard during sports or if you grind your teeth, avoiding chewing overly hard foods, attending regular dental check-ups, and practising good oral hygiene.
